A 35-year-old woman, Alexandra C. Hopkins, from Virginia, is facing charges after an incident involving a medieval sword. The Leesburg Police Department reported that officers responded to the 800 block of Edwards Ferry Road to serve a warrant on Hopkins. This seemingly routine procedure took a dramatic turn when Hopkins allegedly swung the sword at a police officer and a neighbor.

Confrontation with Law Enforcement

During the encounter, Hopkins reportedly swung the sword, which measured more than eighteen inches in length, at one of the officers before fleeing into a nearby residence. A neighbor also claimed that Hopkins swung the weapon at them. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in connection with either incident.

Arrest and Charges

Despite the dramatic encounter, Hopkins was taken into custody without further incident. She has been charged with assault on law enforcement, assault, and brandishing a weapon. In addition to these charges, Hopkins also faces two unrelated warrants from another agency.

Legal Proceedings

Following her arrest, Hopkins was transported to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center, where she is currently being held without bond. The seriousness of the charges against her and the involvement of law enforcement have made this case a matter of public interest in the Virginia community.
