Russian Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov has warned that Western countries are actively seeking to steal Moscow's military technology through industrial espionage. He highlighted that these countries are specifically targeting industry experts in an attempt to obtain valuable research, weapon data, and the expertise of Russian specialists.
Ongoing Challenges and Security Concerns
Manturov emphasized that industrial espionage has been a persistent challenge for Russia, stating that it has occurred in the past, continues to happen in the present, and is likely to persist in the future. He also pointed out that the threat extends beyond espionage, referencing media reports of an attempted assassination of a defense company manager by a Russian national allegedly acting on behalf of a Ukrainian terrorist organization.
Unprecedented Rearmament and Modernization Efforts
Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu recently revealed that the country is undergoing an 'unprecedented' rearmament, with a significant increase in the production of tanks, drones, and other weapons and ammunition. Shoigu highlighted that over 100 types of weapons and military hardware have been modernized, significantly reducing the development and testing timelines and enabling rapid introduction into the army.
